Data & Account Removal — Orinoco Reader
This page explains how to remove the small amount of data that the app and its activation server hold about you.
Two kinds of data, two ways to remove them
1. On-device data — remove it yourself, instantly
Bookmarks, last-page-read, library list, settings, and the per-install ID all live only on your device, in the App’s private storage.
**To delete them:** uninstall Orinoco Reader, or open *Android Settings → Apps → Orinoco Reader → Storage → Clear data*.
No request to us is needed.
2. Server-side data — email us to delete
The activation server holds the records you created when you purchased a book: your email address, the name on the purchase, the license keys issued to you, and the per-install IDs that have activated each key.
**To request deletion**, send an email from the address on file:
> **Subject:** Orinoco Reader — delete my account > **Body:** Delete the email address used at purchase, and any license key issued to you.
We will confirm receipt and complete the deletion within **30 days**, unless accounting or legal obligations require us to retain a record.
What gets deleted, what stays
| Item | Deleted? | Notes | | ——————————————————– | ——– | ————————————————— | | Email and customer name on the activation server | Yes | Removed within 30 days of request | | License keys issued to you, and their activation history | Yes | Removed with the account | | Per-install IDs recorded against your keys | Yes | Removed with the account | | On-device data (bookmarks, library, settings) | Yes | You remove this yourself via uninstall / Clear data | | Payment records held by the payment processor (PayPro) | Kept | We do not control these — contact PayPro directly | | Anonymised accounting totals (no personal data) | Kept | Required by tax law |
Important: deletion removes access to your purchased books
Activation works by checking your license key against the server. If the server record is deleted, **the App can no longer confirm your purchase and your books will revert to trial mode** (first 20% of pages only). This applies on every device, present and future.
This step cannot be undone — we keep no backup that would let us restore an account after deletion. If you only want to stop using the App on one device, uninstall it instead (step 1 above); your license stays valid and you can reinstall later.
If you are sure you want to proceed, email us as described above.
